Snow is dropping early in the Netherlands. Building on the success of past years, one of the world’s finest rail jams is back for its eighth anniversary. December seven, thousands of spectators are expected to fill the “Grote Markt” in downtown The Hague to witness the sickest urban snowboarding to go down, presented by Red Bull and Blue Tomato in association with Volcom, GoPro and Snowworld.

Right in the city center, a custom, one-of-a-kind urban set-up will be constructed over a two-storey scaffolding frame. Featuring the most provocative obstacles imaginable, the possibilities are endless. The street set up is covered by locally produced snow. The jibbers will be battling it out for a share of the 6000-euro prize purse. With international invitees lining up alongside local heroes, the riders are sure to make the most of the amazing set up.

The competition starts Saturday at 16:30, with the finals expected around 21:30. After the prize giving, the crowd switches into party mode with a live band and afterwards sending it at one of the many parties. The whole weekend is packed with side events, kicking off on Wednesday (December 4) with the Blue Tomato “last show down” qualification for those not invited (two wild cards) during a jam session at Snowworld.

The Dutch government city The Hague is an obvious choice to boast this winter kick off as it’s an amazing urban playground with many skateboarders, surfers and snowboarders around. Rock A Rail wants to introduce (urban)snowboarding to as wide an audience as possible with a focus on progression of the sport. A never seen combination of obstacles provides the perfect opportunity for riders to showcase their creativity, keep the hardcore shred fans happy and provide an amazing spectacle for the crowds.
