Winter Is Coming: The Program for the 22nd Hintertux Park Opening Is Set

Hintertux, AUT (01.09.2026) Even if this summer might suggest otherwise, winter is already within reach at Hintertux Glacier. From October 2–4, 2026, the Hintertux Park Opening kicks off the new season for the 22nd time. For three days, the snowboard and freeski community gathers for the first big get-together of the winter.

Werni’s Transfer Games presented by Quiksilver & Nitro Snowboards: Zillertal snowboard pro Werni Stock and his crew of fellow riders from around the world open the big jump at Betterpark Hintertux. At the first big-air session of the season, it’s all about airtime, creative transfers and teamwork.

Rock A Rail presented by Snowfest: The renowned Rock A Rail Tour returns to Hintertux for the second time. At the open qualification on the mountain, snowboarders and freeskiers compete for the coveted spots in Saturday night’s big final down at the valley station. Registration for the qualification is now open.

Kids Shred by Gigi: The next generation takes over Betterpark Hintertux together with freestyle legends Gigi Rüf and Steve Gruber. Tips, tricks and plenty of fun included. Registration is available here.

Canary Cartel Playground Session: To wrap up the weekend, the Canary Cartel Crew takes over the rails right outside Fernerhaus. Style and creativity are rewarded with the popular burger vouchers.

Test, watch, celebrate: At the traditional On-Snow Test at Fernerhaus, it’s all about testing, comparing, talking gear and trying out the latest products for the upcoming season directly on snow. The Snow Card Tirol is valid from October 1, just in time for the entire Opening weekend.In the evening, the community heads down to the Hohenhaus Tenne: after all, the legendary Opening Party is just as much a part of the Hintertux Park Opening as the Movie Premiere Night at the Tux Center and those first park laps of the winter.
